Could EA make a return to one of its most fondly recalled franchises...
Before EA grew conscious of its image and a certain Need for Speed took over the roads, the US publisher skirted controversy with its Road Rash series during the 90's. Pitting players in illegal violent races across North America, using chains, baseball bats and whatever means necessary to win against a cast of deranged bikers, the Road Rash series became a classic during the days of the 16-bit formats with a healthy mix of racing, violence, action and humour.
Seven years after the last major release in the series appeared on the PSone in the form of Road Rash: Jailbreak, the rumour-mill suggests that EA are ready to return to its world of rolling hills, souped up Ducatis and wry humour.
Although nothing more than a rumour at this stage it's worth bearing in mind that EA have kept the trademark behind the name active, suggesting that there could be something to this.
