The development farce surrounding the return of Duke looks set to continue into next year and beyond...
The development woes of ‘Duke Nukem forever’ have been well publicised since the game was originally announced back in 1997; subsequent reshufflings and the untimely death of Doug Myers, one of the co-founders of GOD Games has done little to help this.<br><br>However the end still seems to be nowhere in sight, as when pressed for a comment on the situation during the recent Take-Two financial announcement, Jeff Lapin CEO Take Two Interactive, confirmed that the game might even slip into 2005; claiming that:<br><br>"I had a recent conversation with the developer, and they expect the game to be completed sometime at the end of '04 or the beginning of '05."<br><br>Take-Two acquired the license for ‘Duke Nukem Forever’ for an estimated $12 million, however the games developers have funded development entirely by themselves and have still retained the Duke Nukem license. Comments made between the two parties seem to suggest that it isn’t the smoothest relationship, with 3D Realms Chief George Broussard once infamously claiming “Take-Two needs to STFU IMO”.<br><br>We’ll have more on the situation soon, or perhaps not…

i really feel bad for the people who were making this game for over a decade. This game should've been so much better.

not to advertise other websites here but gamersyde has a video of duke nukem forever running and it looks sweet as so even with fairly low recomended spec it'll look good and run like sh** off a shovel.

I can't wait for the remake of Duke Nukem Forever. They should get started now if they want to finish it before video games are considered a mocking reference to the kitsch of a dead society. Or maybe that wouldn't matter since Duke Nukem is already a joke about Duke Nukem.

It's a shame but inevitable given the awful dev time of DNF...

i doubt duke nukem forever will materialise, its game engin will be well and truly out of date, releasing it on xbox live arcade or psn is the only way people will consider it a worthy purchase though to be perfectly honest there are far better shooters out there anyway like cod4 or left 4 dead.

god I hope this game never comes out, so the joke still goes on and on and well, it will stop the day this game comes out!

LOL Why the hell does anyone EVER pre-order software. I have never in 20+ years ever not been able to stroll into a store and get the latest release off the shelf.
