A vacancy at 3D Realms prompts speculation over the Duke's future...
Now that Prey finally made the step from development hell to release last year, attention can return back to another 3D Realms title that has so far spent a decade in production - Duke Nukem Forever.
Announced in the days when PlayStation vied for supremacy against the SEGA Saturn and N64, Duke Nukem Forever has since undergone the most turbulent development of any game. Ever. So much so, that it's been regarded by most as vapourware for a number of years...
However, it seems that the Duke may not be dead and buried...at least according to 3D Realms' George Broussard. The studio recently posted a job vacancy for a new PC and Xbox 360 programmer/software engineer on industry website Gamasutra, headlined with a supposed screenshot of the Duke. Of course, this is no means confirmation that Duke Nukem Forever is coming to any format any time soon, though Broussard's comments that the image was, "an in game, real-time shot of Duke standing in a random hallway," has certainly fanned the flames, with over thirty pages of posts dedicated to the picture over on the official 3D Realms website alone.
After ten years in development, is the Duke about to finally step out of the shadows, or is it just a studio having a bit of fun as they look to expand their staff numbers?

i really feel bad for the people who were making this game for over a decade. This game should've been so much better.

not to advertise other websites here but gamersyde has a video of duke nukem forever running and it looks sweet as so even with fairly low recomended spec it'll look good and run like sh** off a shovel.

I can't wait for the remake of Duke Nukem Forever. They should get started now if they want to finish it before video games are considered a mocking reference to the kitsch of a dead society. Or maybe that wouldn't matter since Duke Nukem is already a joke about Duke Nukem.

It's a shame but inevitable given the awful dev time of DNF...

i doubt duke nukem forever will materialise, its game engin will be well and truly out of date, releasing it on xbox live arcade or psn is the only way people will consider it a worthy purchase though to be perfectly honest there are far better shooters out there anyway like cod4 or left 4 dead.

god I hope this game never comes out, so the joke still goes on and on and well, it will stop the day this game comes out!

LOL Why the hell does anyone EVER pre-order software. I have never in 20+ years ever not been able to stroll into a store and get the latest release off the shelf.
