Atari releases details on the attempted resurrection of the Driver franchise...

Atari and Reflections Interactive have confirmed that theyâ??ve said good-bye to Tanner and introduced a new character to the Driver universe as they divulge new information about the forthcoming Driver: Parallel Lines. Set in the 1970s and 2006, the game follows the story of TK a driver-for-hire who's double-crossed in the 1970s and sent down to prison for twenty-eight years, only to released in the present day with a thirst for revenge.

Set in New York across 35 missions with the first half set in the 1970s and the rest in 2006, Driver: Parallel Lines sees TK both as a young arrogant 18-year old and as an newly released ex-con with an even meaner attitude.

"While returning to its roots with adrenaline-pumping Hollywood-style car chases and unprecedented vehicle dynamics and physics, Driver: Parallel Lines will offer fans a whole new intriguing storyline that is full of twists and surprises," said Gareth Edmondson, Studio Manager, Reflections Interactive.

Driver: Parallel Lines is set for release on Xbox and PlayStation2; we'll have further coverage shortly...
