The latest Dragon Quest title is a handheld game with a home console development period...
Following the earth-shattering revelation that Dragon Quest IX would shy away from next-gen technology and be developed exclusively for the Nintendo DS back in 2006, for a release at some point in 2007, it now seems we may have even longer to wait for the next title in the revered RPG series.
Following the first delay to its original release date into 2008, Famitsu is today reporting that the title has once again been shifted and will now release in Japan during March 2009.
Exactly when we can expect a Western version remains uncertain, though we'll no doubt be playing on the new DS by then.

AWSOME!!! Square's actually made a smart move. Final fantasy III for the DS was really successful (heck I even know some people who brought it on ebay before it came out in England) so I reckon Dragon Quest IX will be just as successful. And, if Square's lucky, even more!!!

What are you on about??? This side of the PS2, the DS is the most succesful console out there - this makes perfect sense, I can't wait for it and judging from the screens it's looking pretty tight to DQ8...

Square-Enix doesn't waste any time -- there's already comercials on TV here in Japan about it.
