BioWare's Dragon Age series will get a full sequel following more DLC for the first game than you can shake a magic staff at...

Dragon Age 2 has been unveiled in all its glory following a mention of its existence in an EA press release earlier this week and some Twitter teasing last night from BioWare.

The reveal happened over on Game Informer's site, which teases full disclosure on the game in next month's issue of the US mag. Early details from the tease include a different hero from the first game and a new setting in the Dragon Age world.

BioWare's official website for the game reveals further details, including a storyline that streches over a decade, a rise to prominence from a "destitute refugee" to a "revered champion of the land", an all-new combat system, and a new visual style.

EA is yet to unleash a full press release and screens at this stage, although early indications are that the game will launch in the first few months of next year. BioWare has previously indicated that February 1st 2011 is an important date for the Dragon Age universe, so we're going to go ahead and pencil that in as the launch date.

Update: A full EA press release has now revealed a bit more info on Dragon Age 2's protagonist. The hero's name is Hawke and he's a survivor of the Blight. Referred to as the "Champion of Kirkwell" in EA's release, Hawke's 10-year story apparently recounts his rise from being a hapless pauper to the most powerful man in the Dragon Age world.

Contrary to the previously speculated February 1st release, EA has now confirmed a March 2011 launch on PC, Xbox 360, and PS3.

@Post 2: It was my fault I think, a real slip of the mind. Don't know how that happened. Sorry and thanks

@Post 2: Apologies, we got our games mixed up for a second. Please find the error corrected appropriately and thanks for the heads-up.
