The Xbox release of Doom 3 proves to be an initial success for Activison in the UK...
It's a good news day for Activision as UK trade publication MCV reports that Doom 3 Xbox has become the company's most successful opening weekend single-platform release, debuting at number three in the charts. Not only with that news put a smile on the face of the Activision Execs, but the game has also become the second fastest selling Xbox game ever in Britain.
Speaking to the trade mag, Activision Brand Manager Grant Gie said, â??We're justifiably proud of Doom 3 Xbox sales out of the starting block here in the UK...We're looking forward to building on this momentum as the word of mouth effect amplifies the ongoing marketing and PR campaigns."
The fact that the title has gone on to beat the PC version in terms of initial success for the company is probably as much of a surprise for Activision as it is for the rest of the industry, although the big question is whether it will stand the test of time...how long will it last in the charts?
