Activision confirms the long-awaited release of Doom 3 for the Xbox and Resurrection of Evil expansion pack for the PC...
Having recently confirmed the slippage of Doom3 for the Xbox and the forthcoming PC expansion pack Doom 3: Resurrection of Evil, Activision today confirmed an April 4th 2005 release date for the two titles.
Featuring a new co-operative campaign and a variety of Xbox Live! modes, the Xbox version will be released in Standard and Limited Edition offerings, with the LE version featuring full-versions of the original Ultimate Doom and Doom II, playable in single-player, split-screen co-op or deathmatch with 2-4 players on one unit â?“ sadly it doesnâ??t appear that Xbox Live! support will feature for these ageing classics.
Resurrection of Evil takes place two years after the events of Doom 3, with players waging a brutal war against an army of new demons, zombies and Hellâ??s own Hunters, whilst popping fun at Half Life 2 with the inclusion of the all-new physics defying â??grabberâ? gun and attempting to please the hardcore fanatics with the notable return of the double-barrelled shotgun.
"Brace yourself for a new breed of fear and excitement," said Todd Hollenshead, CEO, id Software. "DOOM 3 for the Xbox brings gripping action, unparalleled graphics and sound, and a truly terrifying experience to the home theater. This is DOOM 3 built for the Xbox, including 480p and wide-screen support, full Xbox Live multiplayer, and the Xbox exclusive 2-player co-op campaign. For fans of DOOM 3 on the PC, Resurrection of Evil takes you to the undiscovered depths of the UAC's Mars base and back to Hell itself for a vicious new battle with the forces of evil and the most ferocious demons imaginable."
Weâ??ll have more on both titles soon.
