New boxing franchise unveiled by 2K Sports for Xbox 360, Wii, and Nintendo DS...

Following Baseball, Basketball, Ice Hockey, and American Football, 2K Sports is branching out into a new sport in Spring 2008: Boxing. The publisher has today confirmed the development of Don King: Prizefighter for Xbox 360, Wii, and Nintendo DS in Spring 2008 - though there's no word on whether a PlayStation 3 edition will be joining them.

Currently in development at Venom Games (Rocky, Rocky Legends), Don King: Prizefighter is presented in a documentary style, and is said to deliver "the deepest, most authentic and entertaining experience ever seen in a boxing video game." Today's announcement certainly seems to suggest that 2K Sports is laying down the gauntlet to EA and whichever of its studios will take over the now defunct EA Chicago's job of producing the Fight Night series.

"The combination of real-life fight scenarios, story-driven gameplay and photo-realistic graphics will set this title apart from the competition," said Christoph Hartmann, President of 2K. "Our goal has always been to deliver the most engaging and realistic titles, and Don King Presents: Prizefighter will exceed these expectations. Based on the game's innovative features and high-profile fighters, this title will be a 'must have' for any sports gamer."

"In all my years working in professional boxing, I have never seen anything come as close to recreating the thrill, the intensity, the courage and the spectacle of the sport," said legendary boxing promoter Don King. "Don King Presents: Prizefighter is more than a game -- it is a glimpse at what life is like in and out of the ring for these incredible athletes."

Don King: Prizefighter is due for release in Spring 2008 on Xbox 360, Wii, and Nintendo DS.

i hope they add the things that need to be added to a boxing game like good entrances an sumfin better happening after the fight, i agree with teh ring attire suggestion aswell. the gameplay is the most important and must be spot on. i am happy with the lineup of boxers, as there is a few more modern ones, need a few added tho like hatton mayweather an cotto

It'd better not control like the rocky games. The ref needs to be in the ring with the fighters. if all the weight classes are in there would be only 1.7 avrg(!) boxers per division or if you lumped them in a "rough catergory"(light-heavy and cruiser in the heavy weights etc) you still only have 4ish fighters per division unless you can go up and down weights for fights you want. NO LEGENDS should be in the career mode. Has anyone heard of "title bout". Thats a sim with every boxer from the begining of time

make it harder than fight night round 3,,that game is waay to easy even on hard mode,,and i think making actual trainers..like buddy mcgirt,,emmanuel stewart ect..that wud be pretty cool,,and i hear theres only gonna be 30 boxers in this game,,pleease let them be aaaall the good ones in aall the main weight classes,,,and a more intense and loud crowd chanting authentic chants("theres only oooonne ricky hatton!") and more realistic entrances and haave the announcer introduce the fighters like they do in real life WHEN THEY'RE IN THE RING!!!...pleease let this game be good
