Square-Enix: DS Double Bill In Spring '09 News

Square-Enix has today confirmed a double-bill of Nintendo DS RPGs, heading to Europe in spring 2009. Both have been produced by Atelier Iris and GrimGrimoire studio, Nippon Ichi, and are already scheduled to arrive across North America in time for the Holiday season.

An update to the PlayStation 2's Disgaea: Hour of Darkness, Disgaea DS includes additional features exclusive to the handheld, including multiplayer, Wi-Fi swap 'n' share functionality for items, and customisable rule systems.

John Yamamoto, president and chief executive officer of Square Enix Ltd. comments, "I am delighted that we are able to bring Disgaea DS to players in Europe and PAL territories. Nippon Ichi has created a game perfectly suited for portable play that will entertain and challenge in equal measure."

A love story about one girl setting out to find her prince, Rhapsody - A Musical Adventure, follows Comet (and her 'friend', a puppet called Kururu) through the land of the Marl Kingdom. An update to the decade old PlayStation 1 game, Rhapsody will also include new content, touch screen control, and new playable characters.

Yamamoto also released a statement about Rhapsody's reinvention on the DS: "Following the recent announcement for Disgaea 3 and Disgaea DS, we're delighted to be growing our relationship with Nippon Ichi by publishing Rhapsody ~A Musical Adventure~ across Europe and PAL territories. The game looks set to appeal to gamers of all ages."
