The Big N purchases an 80% share of the Baten Kaitos developer...

Coming shortly after news of their record financial results, Nintendo has announced that it has bought an 80% share of Japanese developer, Monolith Software. The studio is currently developing Disaster: Day of Crisis on Wii for Nintendo, and has previously been responsible for the likes of Baten Kaitos on GameCube.

In the past, Monolith Software has enjoyed a close relationship with Bandai Namco Group, which has published the likes of Xenosaga III for the studio, though the publisher will retain its own 16% stake in the company.

Financial details of the deal haven't been released.
