Nintendo confirms a late October release date for Disaster: Day of Crisis...

First peeping into Nintendo's E3 2006 press conference, Disaster: Day of Crisis has largely been developed with barely a mention or detail released to the outside world.

But like an earthquake, Nintendo has today abruptly confirmed that the natural disaster title will be released on Wii across Europe from October 24th.

Sounding like an amalgamation of several Jerry Bruckheimer blockbusters, Disaster puts gamers into the action as Raymond Bryce, a former member of an international rescue team. When a rogue terrorist group uses a volcanic eruption to act a distraction in their bid to capture US nuclear missiles, Bryce goes on a mission to rescue a seismologist and his assistant from the group, whilst at the same time dealing with the numerous disasters thrown in his way.

In development at Monolith Software in Japan (and not Project Origin outfit, Monolith Productions), Disaster sounds like that rare beast on a Nintendo console...a core title!
