Random dungeons aplenty as Blizzard finally unveils Diablo 3...

Teased at in the week leading up to Blizzard's Worldwide Invitational event in Paris, the acclaimed US studio today put its' fans anxiety to rest with the announcement of Diablo 3.

Picking up the pieces 20 years after the events of Diablo 2, the third title finds Mephisto, Diablo and Ball defeated and the Worldstone destroyed, stirring evil once again in Tristram. Playing the role of the hero from one of five character classes, players can expect to explore new and familiar areas of Sanctuary, battling hordes of demons and collecting powerful items, spells, and abilities along the way. Today's unveiling saw the first demonstration of two character classes featured in the game, namely the Barbarian and Witch Doctor.

Introducing a custom 3D engine that handles indoor and outdoor areas of Sanctuary, Diablo 3 incorporates physics-enhanced environments that offer increased interaction and destructible options. The series' trademark random level generator has been further enhanced with an all-new Quest system and random scripted events, creating dynamic gameplay and plenty of replay value.

Cooperative and competitive play will feature heavily in the game, using an updated version of Blizzard's renowned Battle.net online gaming service.

"We've wanted to expand on the epic story and gameplay elements of the Diablo universe for some time now," stated Mike Morhaime, CEO and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment. "We know that players have also been long awaiting a return to the series, so we're very excited to be sharing this announcement with Blizzard gamers here in Paris and around the world today."

reponse to post #13. GW2 will wipe out WoW. WoW is going to get OWNED when GW2 is released. When it comes out WoW is gonna die...and every1 knows it. Its going to be free, openworlded, lvl 100+(lvl 100 on base game, 3 expansions already planed and ready to go into development (they are expecting to release 8 each boosting the lvl cap by another 20-40 lvls)), many servers to choose from (2x more than WoWs server selction each able to hold over 50,000 players), PvP, PvE, alliance/horde type combat, duelling combat, able to form partys of over 100 ppl, dungeons/instances, next-gen graphics, greater character customisation (chance shape of mouth, nose etc individually) AND MORE!!! I have a feeling that you'll want to retract that statment

If Diablo 3 is even similar to Diablo 1 and 2, it's going to be freaking awesome. WoW was/is nothing more than a Diablo clone in the first place. . .

World of warcraft is going to keep on going, blizzard is making loads of money, and can keep releasing expansions, no game will never meet the standards of WoW
