Eidos France boss confirms the first game in development at the publisher's new Montreal studio...

Back in February, Eidos announced that it was to open a new studio in the emerging videogame development capital of the world, Montreal. Following the likes of Electronic Arts and Ubisoft, the UK-based publisher was the latest outfit to open an outpost in the Quebec city, with its various incentives offered by the regional government.

Focusing solely on next-generation home console titles, Eidos Montreal's first project has been so far been kept under wraps, though it seems that the head of Eidos France has let the cat out of the bag. In an interview with Canadian music channel Musique Plus (via a translation by IGN), Patrick Melchior revealed that the studio is working on a new instalment of Deus Ex, the action RPG that seemingly sunk beneath the waves with the demise of Ion Storm in early 2005.

Although Eidos remained the owner of the Deus Ex brand, little mention has been made of a revival until now, however in an interview with industry publication Gamasutra earlier in the year, Eidos executive Stéphane D'Astous revealed that "the first project we [Eidos Montreal] are working on is an existing IP." Further details on the game are yet to be made by the publisher however, there'll no doubt be some Deus Ex fans with raised eyebrows over whether Eidos Montreal will be able to produce an instalment worthy of the name.

This guy is really asking for it...  Admitedly he's probably right, Deus Ex did lack big scripted moments, but that's because it was all about evolving your character.

He's also right about the consolisation of Invisible War - although I think that got some harsh criticism.

they have to really push the lines on this one, i love the first game as many did. if they make a strong story and amazing gfx (HL2) with full upgrades this game will rock

I actually hope they put some work into it and make it for the PC, instead of a crappy portal from consoles. IW sucked because of the excessive load screens.
