Eidos Montreal reveals that Deus Ex 3 is being built using Crystal Dynamics' proprietary engine...
Stephane D'Astous, the General Manager at the new Eidos Montreal studio, has revealed that Deus Ex 3 will utilise the engine that bought Lara Croft to life in Tomb Raider: Legend and Anniversary. The engine comes from Crystal Dynamics (another Eidos first-party developer) which was responsible for the last two Tomb Raider games.
Speaking to Develop, D'Astous was optimistic about the engines that other Eidos first-party developers could offer. He gave particular mention to Danish developers IO's engine and Crystal Dynamics' Crystal engine. D'Astous is also keen to develop the engine during the production on Deus Ex.
D'Astous said, "I'm relieved that here at Eidos we have two great internal engines - one from IO Interactive and one from Crystal. We chose the Crystal engine because we plan to help develop this engine more and then share it back with the rest of the company, the other Eidos studios."
Crystal Dynamics' engine was used on their first Tomb Raider game, Legend, and then subsequently developed further with this year's release Tomb Raider: Anniversary.

Yet another reason why I frequent your site, you use words like flummoxed.
You crazy brits with your beer and your "football" and your fancy vocabulary. What will you think of next?

This guy is really asking for it... Admitedly he's probably right, Deus Ex did lack big scripted moments, but that's because it was all about evolving your character.
He's also right about the consolisation of Invisible War - although I think that got some harsh criticism.

they have to really push the lines on this one, i love the first game as many did. if they make a strong story and amazing gfx (HL2) with full upgrades this game will rock

I actually hope they put some work into it and make it for the PC, instead of a crappy portal from consoles. IW sucked because of the excessive load screens.
