Gas Powered Games reveals its new PC game that Chris Taylor hinted at last year...
Gas Powered Games has revealed its new PC game that Chris Taylor hinted at last year. According to 1up, the developers are working on an RTS/RPG hybrid game called Demigod which, as the name suggests, has demigods battling it out for supremacy.
Details are thin on the ground at the moment, although it seems the game will have a stress on multiplayer action. Players take control of large, demigod characters that must destroy surrounding AI units to improve their strengths.
While there will be a single-player mode, the focus is set for multiplayer gaming and particularly co-op play. Some demigods are destined to battle by themselves, with only their strength to guide them, while others recruit armies of smaller units to defend themselves.

I would think it probably does have a key check - PC games without them these days are very rare - but they're very easy to crack. That's why publishers like EA resort to DRM.
Of course, with the outcry from fans that this causes, publishers try to avoid DRM where possible (which is why it won't be used with The Sims 3).
Clearly the problem with Demigod is its users and it's very sad to see a small but brilliant developer like Gas Powered Games getting hit so hard by piracy. Let' just hope that it's not too damaging to the company.

I am not going to condone piracy, but why the hell didn't Stardock and GPG have some kind of verification for the online part of the game.
I applaud Stardocks stance on DRM but verification for online games, even if its a simple key check is very easy to incorporate and not too intrusive.
