I would think it probably does have a key check - PC games without them these days are very rare - but they're very easy to crack. That's why publishers like EA resort to DRM.

Of course, with the outcry from fans that this causes, publishers try to avoid DRM where possible (which is why it won't be used with The Sims 3).

Clearly the problem with Demigod is its users and it's very sad to see a small but brilliant developer like Gas Powered Games getting hit so hard by piracy. Let' just hope that it's not too damaging to the company.

I am not going to condone piracy, but why the hell didn't Stardock and GPG have some kind of verification for the online part of the game.

I applaud Stardocks stance on DRM but verification for online games, even if its a simple key check is very easy to incorporate and not too intrusive.
