Spartan-458 lining up for duty in Dead or Alive 4...

TECMO and Bungie Studios today officially lifted the wraps from one of the worst kept secrets in videogames, with the announcement that Dead or Alive 4 will feature Spartan-458 and a Halo inspired stage to fight upon.

The idea behind the collaboration began two years ago when the respective headâ??s of both teams, Bungieâ??s Pete Parsons and Team Ninjaâ??s Tomonobu Itagaki, met at E3. Both being fans of each otherâ??s work thought it would be a great idea to team up on a future project, the result being a female Spartan in the forthcoming Xbox 360 beat-em-up.

â??The opportunity to work with Team Ninja and combine our powers to strike yet another blow in our quest for world domination, was too alluring to pass up,â? said Pete Parsons, Studios Manager at Bungie Studios, during a Game Informer interview in their January issue. â??Plus, we just think the idea of putting a Spartan into a DOA game totally kicks ass.â?

Team NINJAâ??s outspoken head producer, Itagaki, commented on how the two very distinct worlds can co-exist in Dead or Alive 4, â??Our first priority was, above all else, is to remain truthful to Bungieâ??s original design and background material. Then, ideally we were able to add a bit of Team NINJAâ??s distinctive flavor on top,â? he said. â??Think about it for a second: do you honestly believe there is anything out there that canâ??t be accomplished with the technologies of Bungie and Team NINJA put together?â?

So the two biggest egos in the videogames industry combine, surely nothing can failâ?¦
