A job posting has revealed that Visceral Games' Dead Space follow-up is "ready fpr production"...

A job advert from earlier this month has appeared on networking site LinkedIn which indicates that a sequel to Visceral Games' 2008 sci-fi survival-horror game, Dead Space is now on its way out of pre-production and into full scale development.

The posting is for, "a highly motivated Lead combat designer for the Dead Space franchise on Xbox360 and PS3," who will be working on an, "M-rated action/shooter sequel [that] will set new standards for an action-packed story-driven console experience."

"The game is in the later stages of pre-production, ready for production in the next few months, with many of the navigational and combat mechanics in place," the ad states. "We have complete autonomy and creative control over our own decisions."

EA has spoken candidly about the possibility of a Dead Space sequel in the past, although this is the nearest we've come to a confirmation of Dead Space 2 yet. However, with the game only coming out of pre-production at this stage, it may be 2011 before the next title in the series is released.

Thanks, Superannuation.

It does have multiplayer, confirmed in the initial Game Informer reveal last year. No details have been shared yet though...

properly looking forward to it!  completely loved dead space, the story, the graphics, the atmosphere, everything.  is it rumours that dead space 2 has multiplayer or is that fact?  not that it matters if the single player is a stunning as the originals!  8-)

this is my fav game franchise, for my money it has a story better than all other games, and as good as most tv/movies, because i want to know more about the story not just gameplay, i love the comics, the feature, and the little virals and audio logs sort of like what lost did

Yes, but the studio that made it is an internal EA studio (EA Redwood Shores, now Visceral Games), so technically we should be applauding EA for Dead Space. Anyway, even if they did just publish it from a third-party dev, then they still would have had a lot of say regarding the game's direction. Give a companuy credit where it's deserved for crying out loud!
