Inafune-san: Xbox The Only Way To Break Into Overseas Market News

Traditionally Capcom's internal Q&A's with leading developers and senior executives have failed to create anything of note.  However the latest chat with Capcom's Keiji Inafune Managing Corporate Officer, Head of Research & Development Management Group, has proved to be a little more revealing.

When discussing the virtues of Capcom's overseas policy, Inafune-san suggests that long before Dead Rising and Lost Planet established the model, it was in fact the relatively little-heard of PS2 title Shadow of Rome that became the first title to adopt it.

Elaborating on the overseas policy further, Inafune-san makes his high opinion of the Xbox 360 well-known.  Despite the perceived risk of developing for a Western format, Inafune's decision to support the Xbox 360 exclusively with Dead Rising, the timed exclusive of Lost Planet, and added support of PlayStation brands such as Devil May Cry and Resident Evil, ultimately bore significant success.

"I think I can only get away with saying this now, but I really thought that the using the Xbox was only way to break into overseas markets, and I took that hypothesis all the way", exclaimed Inafune-san. "In the end, I am very happy that I did so. Also, I think the hit success of Dead Rising and Lost Planet helped to bring our sometimes difficult creator organization together."
