Capcom's Head of R&D, Keiji Inafune, spills the beans on Dead Rising and Lost Planet sequels...

Capcom's Head of Research and Development, Keiji Inafune, who produced the original Dead Rising has now spoken candidly about new Lost Planet and Dead Rising games that seem to be heading for multiplatform releases.

Speaking in the most recent issue of Famitsu (via Kotaku) Inafune said, "We're finally putting out new Dead Rising and Lost Planet games! As a main principle we're thinking about multiplatform, and expanding upon both slightly from the Xbox 360 version."

While Dead Rising 2 has been rumoured for quite some time, this is the first official word we've heard from Capcom of a new Dead Rising game since Chop Till You Drop was announced, while the most recent movement on the Lost Planet front was the 'Colonies' edition of the first game that was released last summer.

It's certainly no surprise that any prospective sequels will be multiplatform releases, as Capcom has taken the bull by the horns over the last year with its MT Framework strategy for console ports. Lost Planet was eventually ported to PS3 and PC, while Dead Rising is coming to Wii later this year.

Yeah, all we know is that it's scheduled for an early 2010 release. If Capcom's release strategy for its triple A games is anything like last year with SFIV and Resi 5, then Lost Planet 2 and Dead Rising 2 will arrive around spring time.
