Techland and Deep Silver strike gold with a zombies-in-paradise theme...
Open-world zombie brawler, Dead Island has dropped into the UK charts at No.1 this week following its release last Friday, ousting the previous chart topper of two weeks straight, Deus Ex: Human Revolution according to official Chart-Track figures.
Techland's much-publicised undead 'em up also leads a wave of invigorating new entries into the top 10, with THQ's Warhammer 40K: Space Marine landing close behind at No.3 and PS3 exclusive, Resistance 3 managing a respectable launch at No.4.
While Driver San Francisco drops back one place to No.3, Deus Ex: Human Revolution suffers a four place drop to No.5, although Square Enix Europe was able to confirm shipments of 2 million units for the game last week, cementing the title's healthy sales performance so far.
A fourth new entry, Star Fox 64 3D finds itself at No.9 this week, while Sony's Gran Turismo 5 re-enters the sharp end of the chart at No.10. Zumba Fitness, Rugby World Cup 2011, and LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean then pick up the remaining slack from No.6 to No.8 respectively, with each title suffering a three position drop over last week.
Spare a thought for SEGA's Kinect horror game, Rise of Nightmares, which debuts at a crippling No.37 this week.
