Leaked artwork points to a Daytona USA remake for publisher SEGA, although it may be destined for the arcades...
Some artwork has emerged which appears to indicate that SEGA's much loved Daytona series of driving games could be back on the menu, although early indications are that "SEGA Racing Classic" (this might be a tentative title) could be destined for arcades.
The image above clearly lists the game's developer as AM2 in the top left-hand corner, while the Ringwide logo in the bottom left indicates that "SEGA Racing Classic" is being developed for arcade and coin-op machines (Ringwide is SEGA's proprietary coin-op tech).
The title "SEGA Racing Classic" was trademarked by the publisher earlier this year along with the same logo that appears in the artwork above and a stipulation that the trademark is for arcade consoles and coin-op machines, which at least provides some support for the rumour.
Don't go expecting Daytona on your PS3s and Xbox 360s any time soon though. Even if the artwork is genuine (and that's a big if), then a console port would be far from an automatic decision for SEGA.
