Street Fighter IV producer wants your support for Darkstalkers revival but claims he hasn't seen anything on Marvel vs Capcom 3...
Having revived the Street Fighter series, Yoshinori Ono recently expressed an interest to do the same to another Capcom 2D beat-em-up series, Darkstalkers. Notable for a cast of fictional monster characters, the Darkstalkers series introduced concepts such as Chain Combos and Air Blocking, but hasn't been seen since 2004's PSP title, Darkstalkers Chronicle: The Chaos Tower.
At an event to celebrate the upcoming release of Super Street Fighter IV, we managed to ask Ono-san, the game's producer about the rumours, where he confirmed they're part of a elaborate ploy to force Capcom to make a move on the stagnant series.
"Actually for Streetfighter IV Capcom first said "it's not financially feasible," and I had been teasing with every media that I met saying, "why don't you make some more noise about Street Fighter IV and then I can start making it?" That's how it happened.
"You heard the rumour about Darkstalkers... that is my doing and I've been trying to start this rumour. If people keep on asking about it Capcom will have to say something and Capcom will have to say "Ono can you do it?" That's my plan."

Yoshinori Ono
Street Fighter IV Producer
It's not often a lead producer will confirm his stance behind the rumours, but here it is: if you want another Darkstalkers make sure to show your support and let Capcom know. We certainly want another one.
Recently another Capcom series caught the headlines with the suggestion that Marvel vs Capcom 3 is currently in development. The source of the rumour allegedly comes from the same person who spilt the beans on Super Street Fighter IV characters months before their official announcement.
"I've already seen the rumours but unfortunately I don't have any of the documents," Ono-san told us. "So if it is in existence it must be in secret somewhere."
Not exactly a firm denial, but we're not entirely sure a Marvel vs Capcom 3 without Ono's input would be any kop anyway. Just make sure Capcom knows you want another Darkstalkers.
