First DJ Hero Tracks Revealed News

The first details on DJ Hero have surfaced, revealing everything from a mixing desk for the turntable peripheral to the first handful of mixes for the game, as well as some info on how the gameplay will bind everything together.

This news comes from the latest issue of Game Informer, which unveils an as yet unseen part of DJ Hero's turntable peripheral: a mixing desk. Well, less of a desk and more of an attachment to the turntable that brings a crossfader, effects dial, and euphoria button into the mix.

While the effects dial is used in the game at certain prompts to add, well, effects (much in the same way that you'd fiddle with the equaliser dials on a real mixer), the euphoria button is the DJ Hero equivalent of Guitar Hero's Star Power.

As for the three buttons on the turntable's platter, the green and blue buttons control each record in the mix. Crossfading between green and blue streams on the note highway then adds complexity to the button pressing, while the red button is used to add samples.

The article also revealed the first batch of tracks for the game, which are essentially mash-ups of individual tracks and make ample use of DJ Shadow's involvement in the project:

• 'Jayou' (Jurassic 5) vs. 'Rockit' (Herbie Hancock)
• 'Shout' (Tears for Fears) vs. 'Pjanoo' (Eric Prydz)

• 'Bustin' Loose' (Chuck Brown) vs. 'Time of the Season' (The Zombies)
• 'All Apologies' (Nirvana) vs. 'Give It to Me Baby' (Rick James)
• 'Let's Dance' (David Bowie) vs. 'Jack of Spades' (KRS One)
