Activision states that gamers will be able to optionally supplement DJ Hero with a guitar...
This titbit of DJ Hero info appears to have slipped through the net of most reports on Activision Blizzard's Q1 financials, but we've spotted that the publisher may be planning to integrate guitar peripherals in its upcoming DJ Hero game.
In the post-earnings report conference call for the company's Q1 financials (via a Seeking Alpha transcription), Activision Blizzard's President and CEO Michael J. Griffith said, "First, we will launch DJ Hero, which uses a turntable and can be optionally supplemented with a guitar."
This appears to suggest that DJ Hero will enable players to riff along to mixes with traditional guitar based rhythm gameplay, which would be pretty awesome (we can instantly think of a couple of Incubus and Limp Bizkit tracks that would work pretty well for that).
"DJ Hero is an all new, groundbreaking interactive music experience that allows gamers to rule the party as only a DJ can," Griffith continued. "Delivering unique remixes and mash-ups created by professional DJs exclusively for the game. DJ Hero has unprecedented music content that spans such genres as hip hop, electronica, R&B, and dance. We are excited about this new music experience, as our research shows that 50% of likely buyers for DJ Hero are consumers who are not currently Guitar Hero owners."
We've contacted Activision for clarification and are awaiting a response.

God damn I cannot wait for this game... Obviously it was a no brainer to bring it out, and I'm sure I am not the only one who saw Guitar Hero and thought, "How good would a DJ version be"...
