Following abundant rumour, Activision's big cheese finally confirms that a DJ Hero sequel is in the works...

Activision's CEO, Bobby Kotick has confirmed that a sequel to last year's DJ Hero is in the pipeline and will likely be released this year, following the year-on-year release pattern that Activision uses with its Guitar Hero franchise.

"...if you're going to make a commitment to doing something original, the odds are that you're not going to get it right on the first chance," Kotick told Game Informer, referring to the lacklustre sales figures that the rhythm game posted following its release last October.

"I think DJ Hero is a really innovative product. I can't wait for you to see next year's," Kotick continued (the interview was from last year, so "next year's" refers to 2010). "That's the thing; we're sticking with it. We'll stick with it and get it right. But it's going to be less games, better games. That's our strategy."

This news follows rumours about the sequel's existence from none other than superstar DJ David Guetta, as well as murmurings from a recent music industry conference.
