Two Need For Speed titles emerge in EA's Q3 financial report, due for release in late 2010 and early 2011...
According to EA's Q3 financials, the company has two unannounced Need For Speed titles slated for release during its next fiscal year, one of which will arrive in the autumn while the other is down for launch during the first three months of 2011.
One of the titles is down for release on console and PC between January 1st and March 31st 2011, while the other is slated for launch on all-formats during the third quarter of EA's next financial year (between October 1st and December 31st). The titles of both games are listed as TBA at this time.
If we're hazarding a guess, then we'd suggest that the Q3 title is a casual NFS game similar to last year's NFS: Nitro, while the PC and console version due for early 2011 could well be Criterion's previously touted NFS project. Our only reasoning here, though, is that Criterion's project is less likely to be an all-formats release.
More as we get it...
Update: EA's COO, John Schappert has said that the Q3 NFS title is, "a new action based Need for Speed from our Criterion Studio," in a post-financial report conference call. He went on to comment that the Q4 title is, "another big driving simulation from Need for Speed".
This flies in the face of our previously hazarded guess, positioning the Criterion project as an all-formats release, while the Q4 "driving simulation" obviously won't be another casual game in the vein of NFS: Nitro. In fact, it sounds very much like it will be a successor to Slightly Mad Studios' NFS Shift, which was released last year. Whether the same studio will be involved in this sim remains unclear at this time.

I guess, but those games did come out fairly recently (2003-2005). Doesn't it make more sense to do a remake of a Need For Speed from further back in history, like EA is already doing with Criterion's Need For Speed Hot Pursuit?

My suggestion for the Need for Speed Video Game ,consists of:that the title will be call Gangs War,but stick the last characters of the NFS Most Wanted,NFS Carbon & NFS Undercover. And the player acts ;at the same time ,an undercover cop who wants revenge against Sgt. Cross, who's been fired from Rockport, and he protect Casey Li,a former FBI agent,Razor, the man responsible of the death of the player's brother after escape the prision, and recruiting Darius,Wolf,Angie,Kenji,Bull,Ronnie,Vic,Taz and Caleb. Those now ,under Cross' order, they takeover Rockport by storm and operates a corruptional criminal organization along with the chinese ,the italian and colombian mafia.Carmen survive the ambush at the hands of the mafia. This time she's kidnapped by Razor. The player's car;the Koenisseg CCV was taken ilegally when Carmen watche. At the same time, she's the witness in the murder of the player's elder brother. And Cross orchestrated the conspiracy to blame and put the player in jail, while Casey Li,and the other police woman(Cross' personal assistance)send the player to jail, ignoring that he's an undercover cop. However,Cross got a problem. His main boss, the Liutenant, and officer Mia,with the help of Rog.Gives the player a release for lifetime out of jail and made a mission. To capture Razor,Darius and all the new blacklist suspects of kidnapping Carmen, the player's girlfriend and reveal to the liutenant Cross' evil intentions of protect Razor from him and raising the bounty against the player. After Carmen being rescue and Razor die in the canyon race,Cross being fired but he escapes without being arrested for obstruction of justice and conspiracy for murder and kidnapping. His female assistance;along with Casey Li,escapes in a Bugatti Veyron. The only way to defeat and capture Cross,is by driving aChevy Camaro Hennesey 700hp Edition Concept Car,a Pontiac Firebird TransAm Concept,a Dodge Viper,a Ford GT 500,a BMW M3 GTR,and/or the most powerful sport muscle car ever made;a Gumpert-Apollo.And almost bring and unveils all the cars from Need to Speed Underground2,Most Wanted,Carbon,Undercover, and all the new and old cars such as Detomaso-Pantera,Alfa Romeo Brera, and others. That's my own storyline and suggestions for the game. What do ya' think, folks?

however i also like the direction that shift went in, having recently played shift id have to say its 1 of my fave sim racers next to GT5P and possibly forza 3's arcade/sim approach.
though i can see NFS HP getting over shadowed by TDU2's cop chases (dont yet know if you can drive as a cop)

unfortunatly post 31 but thats exactly what the new NFS games is and to be honest its an awsome comeback for HP.
not only does it look slick but it looks smoother than ever with a fast frame rate, the graphics look lush "much better than any other NFS game" if you dont like it TOUGH from underground to carbon thoses NFS games just lacked the gameplay the origonal games provided and now this new one is set to continue that trend set all those years ago on the 3DO.

at last at E3 Ea reviealed NFS HP at last its gone back to its roots, no more customising, no more stupid drift laps, just pure racing fun thats the NFS way.
oh and somone tell gamespot that EA playtested it on ps3 for some strange reason they think it was on 360 "unless they were using ps3 pads on the 360 though very unlikly". (i cant tell gamespot my self as my account is susspended probably as i havnt used there site for several years).

ok post 29 i guess you must live in a city where you think roads no where near cities counts as a streets ??? you missed the whole idea of the game your comment was as bad as someone saying ridge racer is bad as its not on a ridge ???.
other than that your comment is very confusing and makes very little sence and i know you rated it your self.
other commentors if you realy want an old fashoned NFS go get the first game on ps1 or NFS2 if you talking about underground then im sorry but those games diddnt intrest me at all and as far as im concerned the best NFS games were the first 2. any thing after that was "in my opinion" crap and shift was actually somthing different maybe somthing better than the juiced/midnight club lookalike.
as for lonely youll only have to wait till september 21st (NA) and september 24th (EU) for test drive unlimited 2 (the closest game to NFS1).
