Conflict: Denied Ops

Eidos have announced that they will be publishing Conflict: Denied Ops by developers Pivotal Games. The title is due out on the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC during 2008.

Conflict: Denied Ops is an FPS game which will feature two covert operatives which gamers can switch between to complete various tasks. The feature will also be integrated into a co-op multiplayer mode.

A particularly unique gameplay feature is Pivotal's Puncture technology, which will allow players to interact with their environment by shooting holes in walls to snipe from, or breaking through walls to create a surprise attack.

"This is our first chance to develop a Conflict game for next-gen platforms," said Alex McLean, Technical Director at Pivotal. "Working on the 360 and PS3 we've been able to take the series to new heights, with true next-gen lighting, advanced enemy AI, an explosive environment and unique tactical co-op gameplay. Conflict: Denied Ops marks a new era for the Conflict series."

The storyline moves throughout politically volatile climates such as Russia and South America, where deniable operatives (i.e. you) are brought in to complete missions the US government wants dealt with, but will have no official part in.

With titles such as Army of Two and Mercenaries 2 on the horizon, it seems that co-op games featuring private military contractors are the games to be seen in this season.
