EA officially announces Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 for PC and next-gen consoles...
EA has officially announced Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3, which is in development at EA Los Angeles for the PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. That will make Red Alert 3 the first RTS title from EA to feature on Sony's next-gen machine.
After seven years away from the Red Alert series, EA are set to resurrect the franchise with gusto. The key feature to be revealed by EA so far is a co-op campaign for the game. Following on from the events of Red Alert 2, this third instalment sees the Soviets performing a last ditch attempt to beat the allies by changing history through time travel.
The Soviets certainly will change history, but not necessarily in the way that they wanted to. After the time travelling goes awry, the Soviets are transported to a whole other timeline where technology has followed a completely different path (hmm... What a handy way to introduce Red Alert's trademark whacky units).
There's a new world superpower in this timeline called The Empire of the Rising Sun (no prizes for guessing where they're from), and the Third World War is raging with the welcome return of the Allies and Soviet superpowers.
This new timeline will feature a variety of new units and technologies for the three superpowers, including Tesla Coils, armoured bears, transforming tanks, floating island fortresses, teleportation, War Blimps and intelligent dolphins. If only the conspiracy theories were true, then war would be a much more interesting, not to mention bizarre, activity.
"The Red Alert games are known for challenging hardcore strategy gamers with depth, variety, and innovative gameplay. But they also belong to that rare breed of games that can draw in more casual players with their over-the-top stories, instantly accessible mechanics, and straight-to-the-fun design," said Mike Verdu, General Manager of EALA. "With Red Alert 3, our team is continuing that proud tradition by introducing genre-first features like co-operative campaign play, which rewards veterans and casual players alike. In Red Alert 3, friends and family can always have your back."
No release date has been hinted at so far, although die-hard C&C fans may be able to play Red Alert 3 earlier than they might expect. Apparently, details of a Red Alert 3 Beta for PC users will be made available on copies of Command & Conquer 3: Kane's Wrath when it's released later this year.
"It's been too long." said Chris Corry, Executive Producer at EALA. "Fans have been waiting for a new Red Alert game for seven years, and we're working hard to ensure its well worth the wait. The team is staying true to the series' roots while adding new elements like a co-operatively played story-driven campaign, an astounding new faction that will shake-up the Red Alert universe as we know it, and units that will help make Red Alert 3 everything our fans have been waiting for. And by bringing naval combat into the heart of the game design, we're transporting that fast, fun and fluid C&C gameplay to the high-seas in ways that you've never seen before."

Poorly received ? Have you lost your mind ?
C&C G:ZH was the best thing they have put out as far as realism and fun ! I still play it skirmish with a few friends.
Generals ROCKS !

I like Generals but in all honesty Westwood still did C&C better. Now if they said they were going back and redoing the World War Pack and adding the new graphics to the old stuff then that would be worth gold in my eyes.

i love generals and zero hour!! i've downloaded sooo many mods for this game. i actually copied the game 20 times just so i have 20 different variations of the game! i think because of that, the game has a high replay factor!

I'm glad everyone else here thinks that generals/zero hour are the best games ever made - they are literally the only games I play, even now - I even went with a single-core for my last upgrade just because all I wanted to play was Generals (well, a dual core, but each was the fastest clock speed available, rather than eight cores the game couldn't use). I can't believe how Age of Empires has received enough expansion packs to keep everyone going for years, when this absolute gem among games has to keep its head above water with fan offerings. Please, please, please MORE! and after that MMOORREE!! thanks.

C&C generals was my first ever strategy game i ever bought, i got back in third grade and I was not into war games at the time or anything millitary, but when I played the first mission I got so engrossed I played it every day I loved it and I still. Now I have the shockwave and rise of the reds mod. GENERALS 2 WOULD BE SWEET I HOPE THEY MAKE IT.

Zeeo Hour Rulzzzzzzzz (just an idea again) They could make Canada or Russia or some cind of faction that`s on GLA`s side.On Campagain they could make small villages or countries that can be helpful to you or atta[#@!?].Plus EA can put on some maps the ability to attack by sea (build submarines, ships and aircraft carriers.I hope you like my ideas.
