We take an early look at an intruiging fps currently in development exclusively for the PS2...

Cold Winter is a neat looking FTS on the PlayStation 2 coming from Britsoftâ??s Swordfish Studios, to be released late in the year.

The basic synopsis for the game is that having been captured, conveniently forgotten, tortured, and left for dead, MI6 agent Andrew Sterling awaits execution in a Chinese prison. The story begins when a mysterious friend from his past rescues him, setting off a chain of events that could rock the very foundations of global security and wreak chaos on a worldwide level. Just another day in paradise...

The deep story is set in a dark world of international intrigue, double-cross and dubious forces. Three interlinked story threads in eight beautiful and gritty environments (Chinese prison, Cairo, North Korea, Hong Kong, India, etc.)

Realism, we are told, is the order of the day, with zone specific rag-doll death and body damage effects, and advanced blood and gore system -blood splatter and drip effects, limbs blown off, player drips blood when critically hit, plus a lot more. The advanced single character and team AI bots cooperate, give orders, use cover, use covering fire for team attacks, dynamically create cover utilising objects in the environment.

On offer there will be over 30 real world weapons and unprecedented environmental interaction and incredible real world physics, which include high detail, full colour, light-mapped environments.

As you can see the game is not only looking pretty sharp but there is loads of other cool stuff included, not to mention combined items mechanic: create weapons, traps and tools by collecting and combining objects in the environment, as well as 13 single player levels!

We hope to bring you more precise in game details soon.
