Codemasters confirms the existence of Jericho Team, a group of crack operatives fighting against the paranormal...

Following its unveiling earlier in the year, Codemasters has today revealed further details on the next-gen horror, Clive Barker's Jericho, set for release towards the end of 2007 on Xbox 360, PlayStation3, and PC.

Confirmed as a squad-based FPS, the game will see players head-up Jericho Team, a seven-man group of soldiers whose aim is to "...protect government interests from paranormal threats." Each of the team members are described as experts in traditional warfare and magic, including exorcism, alchemy, and clairvoyance.

In Jericho, the team heads off to the Middle-Eastern city of Al-Khali, which has become the focus of a dimensional rift and also happens to be a centre for paranormal research. According to Codies, players will have to rely on their paranormal powers the further they go into the game as the dark powers that emanate from the rift increase.

We'll have more news shortly...

There are two paths horror can go, well two main paths really. Go for the direct shock, like a slasher flick but usually that ends up like laughing stock like here. Or suspense like in Undying where things actually we're scary. This game misses Scary! I rather have a game where I am stuck with way to weak weapons and have to use my brains to kill some low level monsters then a game where I am trying to keep the moronic AI alive!
