NCsoft NorCal's Lead Designer reveals some of the goings on in the run up to the forthcoming City of Heroes/Villains update...
NCsoft NorCal's Matt Miller, has today confirmed that the twelve issue of the City of Heroes/Villains MMO will shortly be heading to Beta.
Marking the first update to the super-hero MMO franchise City of Heroes/Villains since NCsoft acquired the brand and development responsibilities from Cryptic Studio, Issue 12 continues the story arc of the 'Midnight Hour' following the Ritki Invasion. Introducing new maps themed around Ancient Rome (including corresponding armour/suits) for levels 35-50, together with new Villain Archetypes and powersets, the latest issue carries on developing the "City of..." MMO franchise for the subscription base.
Additional tweaks to the gameplay and the 'Hollow' zone are also being made, further improving the experience for subscribers.
In a bizarre titbit of information however, Miller also reveals that, "We [NCsoft NorCal] offered everyone who was working on the game at Cryptic a position within our new studio and were thrilled when they all accepted employment." So is there anyone operating at Cryptic Studios if the entire City team upped sticks to NorCal? Well according to the developer's Careers opportunities, there aren't any openings in the HR department - but there are vacancies for practically every other position, including programmers, artists, producers, project managers, quality assurance leads, and community managers...

Personaly I'm a flavor player. I dont care what the primaries and secondaries are but it would be nice if each primary for an AT had a secondary that made sense with it. Stone for Doms, fine but what the heck do you match to it? Also I would have loved to have seen Doms get Illusion control. The idea of trickery and false images just seems more a senaky vilian thing to me.
