Eidos confirms that Deadline Games' Total Overdose will be getting the PSP treatment...and a name change in the process...

Eidos has today confirmed the development of Chili Con Carnage for PSP. Whilst there's no reference of it in the official statement from the British publisher, the game seems to be a handheld port of Total Overdose, which was released for Xbox, PlayStation2, and PC in Autumn 2005.

Like the home console original, Chili Con Carnage is in production at Deadline Games, and sees players follow the story of Ramiro Cruz as he investigates the death of his father.

"Eidos gave us the challenge to create the FASTEST and most GUN CRAZY action game to be released on a handheld machine. And we have delivered CHILI CON CARNAGE - a burning hot Mexican shooter with the biggest explosion frequency and the highest takedown rate you will ever experience on the PSP" - said Chris Mottes, CEO, Deadline Games.

"CHILI CON CARNAGE is a super-hot action game experience with a strong whiff of tequila. We're excited to be working with Deadline Games on bringing CHILI CON CARNAGE into the palms of gamers everywhere." - said Larry Sparks, Head of Brands Management, Eidos

Eidos is yet to confirm a release period for the Robert Rodriguez-influenced title; we'll have more news shortly...
