Ubisoft has today announced its latest foray into the digital downloading world of Xbox Live Arcade, Chessmaster LIVE, which is due to arrive in January 2008.

Featuring the classic game with support for Xbox Live Vision cameras and a selection of chess sets designed by US-based 'House of Staunton', a company that first launched sets in 1849 (so about the same time that Pong first pinged onto the scene), Chessmaster LIVE will join several other boardgames already available on the service.

"Bringing the Chessmaster series to Xbox LIVE Arcade makes the game accessible to a whole new audience," said Peter Helm, business development associate at Ubisoft. "Chessmaster LIVE is not only a comprehensive chess program, but it is also one that has expanded beyond the traditional game to include exciting features for fans, both old and new."

The publisher will also be taking the Knights, Pawns, Rooks, and Bishops over to PSP in the Spring with Chessmaster.

You clearly don't have a clue. Chessmaster is a genuine classic, it dates back for many years and remains popular and well remembered. Chessmaster is at least gonna be more stimulating than Mass Effect :P
