Eidos adopts a bold 'Pay What You Want' strategy for the resurrection of Champ Man...

Following a similar move to Radiohead and testing the waters of digital downloads, Eidos today announced a 'pay what you want' strategy for Champisonhip Manager 2010.

From tomorrow, PC gamers can put in a pre-order for the full title and pay as much as necessary, whether that's full whack or a single penny.  As Eidos points out, it's quite a charitable move considering the transfer fees currently circulating in the real world.

Although ultimately we see it as a smart move to distance itself from Champ Man's recent history and signal a new charge towards Sports Interactive's dominant Football Manager series.

"This is the best Championship Manager the studio has ever made and we want as many people as possible to try the full new game," said Championship Manager General Manager Roy Meredith.

The promotion begins from tomorrow until September 10th, so simply head over to www.champmanstore.com and pay whatever you choose - including the mandatory £2.50 transaction fee.

Its full of bugs! Unplayable! It always crashes, or corrupts your save game file.

So BGS has enlisted the profiles of three unemployed managers to offer their two pence in the new trailer - that's very charitable of them, at least they won't be going hungry for a little while.

I also think BGS fail to understand that the Republic of Ireland aren't a "Home Nation".
