Beautiful Game Studios' Roy Meredith speaks to TVG about the improvements he has planned for Champ Man 2011...

The General Manager of Eidos' Championship Manager series, Roy Meredith has spoken to TVG about the sort of improvements he's looking to make with next year's instalment, including a deeper set-piece creator and a more immersive training system.

When we asked Meredith whether Champ Man 2011 will opt for a gradual evolution of the series or more revolutionary features, he commented that, "There's a balance. We need to put in big ticket new features, but we need to balance it against certain other work that still needs to be done."

"We want to make the set-piece creator even bigger," he continued. "We want to make training even more integral, so that people don't think it's a chore and they actually think, 'I can't wait to do this in training. I can't wait to do X, Y, and Z in another feature.'"

Meredith identified the new 3D match engine as one of the "big ticket" new features for Champ Man 2010, but also pointed out that there's still room for gradual improvement in the coming years.

"Look at a playable game like FIFA. They're always improving the match engine," he said. "I was asked this question a while ago by someone: "Are you entirely 100% satisfied with the match engine?", and I said, "I can't say that".  Like consumers, I'm always looking at it and thinking, 'Wouldn't it be great if...'  Even cosmetic stuff like substitutes warming up and stuff like that. It's all of those things that go into the match day experience."

Stay tuned for more Champ Man info from Roy Meredith in a TVG interview with the Beautiful Game Studios gaffer, or click through here for news on Champ Man 2010's CM Season Live feature and whether or not it'll implement the potential Chelsea transfer ban.

There certainly was little between Champ Man and FM last season. Champ Man had the innovative new features, while FM was still the one to beat in terms of gameplay. Nonetheless, Champ Man 2010's gameplay still took huge strides forward from Champ Man '08.

Waste of time. Disc won't read and going by the other issues listed below, this game seems riddled with problems. It's in the bin where it belongs.

Note to developer: If you're going to take on the FM series, begin with a game that actually works. I won't be buying any of your products ever again.
