Castlevania takes the action to World War II in the previously rumoured DS outing...

A new Castlevania is heading to the Nintendo DS as previously predicted, however this time around the setting has changed to fit within the timeline of World War II.

Once again under the control of Koji Igarashi and his team, Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin finds players assuming the role of two characters, vampire-hunter Jonathan Morris and a young girl with magical abilities named Charlotte Orlean. Both characters must work together to thwart plans to resurrect Dracula's castle, thus unleashing a reign of evil upon the world during the course of WW2.

Capturing the chaos and suffering of the setting, Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin finds thousands of lost souls wandering the world in search for salvation. Desperate to escape their eternal state of limbo the lost souls are rebuilding the castle under the misguided control of two vampire sisters.

Free to switch between either Jonathan or Charlotte throughout the game, both characters can utilise Summon attacks to raise demons to assist them in their fight against the vampire sisters and their army.

Based upon a previous leaked release schedule we'd expect Castlevania: portrait of Ruin to surface during November in North America at least; look out for further coverage soon.
