Castlevania Judgment heading to Wii in the shape of a WFC enabled fighter...
It appears that the rumours are true, Konami's legendary Castlevania is heading to Wii... and it's in the shape of a fighter!
Currently in development under the careful glare of Koji Igarashi, Castlevania Judgment pits several generations of the Belmont family clan against a range of characters spanning the series' history and bridging past with present.
Choosing sides in the epic good vs. evil battle, Castlevania Judgment uses the Wii Remote and Nunchuk to bring an array of slash, stab, and whip techniques. Under the design of famed manga artist Takeshi Obata, certain characters can also set traps and enlist the aid of monsters to assist in the bout.
Somewhat surprisingly, the game boasts connectivity with the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection service for online play, along with link-up options for the forthcoming DS title Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia.
"We wanted to take this addition to the signature Konami franchise in a direction that really sets it apart from the previous Castlevania titles in the series," said Anthony Crouts, Vice President of Marketing for Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. "The Wii Remote(tm) and Nunchuk capabilities, along with the iconic characters, make this game the ideal entry point into the fighting game genre. This combination is certain to thrill old and new fans of the franchise. "
Castlevania Judgment has been scheduled for a North American release during Autumn 2008, although Konami has yet to confirm a European or UK date.
