Despite showing a healthy profit, Nintendo announce less then impressive GameCube sales...

Nintendo recently released its first-quarter financial earning report, painting the desperate situation facing the GameCube.

Whilst the GameBoy Advance almost single-handedly drew in profits of 11.5billion yen (~£59million), shifting over 3.24million units worldwide and driven by the recently released GameBoy Advance SP, Nintendo revealed that only a meagre 800,000 GameCube's were sold worldwide in the last three months.

This has led leading financial experts to predict a significant GameCube price cut in order to meet its ambitious expectations of selling 6million units in the financial year leading up to March 2004; in the same period Nintendo expects to shift an impressive 20million GameBoy Advance's.

However TVG has recently witnessed worldwide figures which paint a different picture despite all of the gloom, claiming that both the Xbox and GameCube are still relatively neck-and-neck in a distant second place with total sales around the 9million mark - a figure lower then even the sales of the Sega Dreamcast!
