The fifth Call of Duty title, Treyarch's World at War, has now surpassed 11 million unit sales...
Activision and Treyarch have announced that last year's Call of Duty: World at War has now passed through the 11 million unit sales mark, making it one of the most commercially successful games released in 2008.
World at War has reached this milestone in approximately half a year, while its predecessor (Infinity Ward's original Modern Warfare title) has totalled 13 million unit sales according to Activision figures announced earlier in the year.
However, Modern Warfare has enjoyed a resurgence in sales since Modern Warfare 2 was announced last February. Infinity Ward's Community Manager, Robert 'IAMfourzerotwo' Bowling, has recently stated that the game's multiplayer component has logged 13 million unique users in its lifetime, suggesting that total game sales may now be significantly more than this.
World at War's first portion of downloadable content (Map Pack 1), which was released last March, has now pulled in 2 million downloads over Xbox Live and PSN. Map Pack 2 was released for the Xbox 360 and PS3 last week.
