E-mails flying around tricking people to join the MW2 beta but more likely to leave you sniffling...
Such is the popularity of Call of Duty that any news of a possible chance to jump on in the action is bound to create a stir. Such an event happened recently when e-mails promoting an apparent Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 beta appeared, however unsurprisingly it's all entirely fake.
Infinity Ward has moved to deny the e-mails, suggesting that any message coming from COD5BETA@infinityward.com is entirely fake, and likely to leave you stricken with viruses instead of sampling what Infinity Ward has in store.
The text of the fraudulent e-mail is copied directly from the Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare beta test, so it's easy to see why CoD fanatics might be tricked, but just remember: if something looks too good to be true, then it probably is - Infinity Ward haven't even officially lifted the wraps from Modern Warfare 2 yet!
That said it does highlight Call of duty's popularity if hackers are using it to dupe unsuspecting victims; hopefully, it will move Infinity Ward to finally reveal what they have in store.

In all fairness, the UK government actually defended Modern Warfare 2. The Secretary of Culture, Media, and Sport spoke positively about the game industry and adult rated games when Keith Vaz raised his concerns about Modern Warfare 2 at a recent Prime Minister's Question Time.
Keith Vaz is an outspoken critic of games though, who has continually used the controversy surrounding some violent videogames (e.g. the Manhunt series) to raise his political profile. In this case (although it pains us to say it), the UK government actually got it spot-on - it's just one evangelist who let the side down.

jesus christ, i think this countrys government needs to wack themselves over the head!its not asif teens or adults or even kids are gunna get an AK47 with a red dot sight and heartbeat sensor and go around an airport shooting random people
its pathetic, that scene didnt really affect me because i knew it was just a gameand wasnt real, i wasnt shooting reall people and its something that games have never and probably never will do again

It's a bit unclear in Bowling's post, but he seems to be suggesting that the PC version of Modern Warfare 2 sold more units (rather than revenue generated) in like-for-like first week sales compared to CoD4.

Here's a relevant question; by outsold do they mean number of copies sold, or by revenue generated becuase MW2 is 33% more expensive than COD4 for PC, which would explain why MW2 "outsold" COD4. I have a sneaky suspicion that Robert Bowling is trying to prove something to PC gamer's.

That's a bit sexist. I'm male and couldn't actually bring myself to shoot any of the civlians. I know another guy who started shooting and then immediately stopped himself because itt was all a bit too harrowing.

hated the airport scene i tried to kill the terrorists but they just shot me. i ended up skipping the mission.too real looking.if your intention was to shock then it worked.i suspect the male gamers would have no problem killing innocent civilians. thank you AL.DIVA(gamer tag)

Really? Do they? There are literally hundreds of them already!

They need to make more emblems and titles.
