'Annihilation' DLC allegedly going live on June 28th...
Just when you thought we were done with 1200 Microsoft Point map packs for the year, it's beginning to look very likely that Activision has a third instalment of DLC up its sleeve for Call of Duty: Black Ops called 'Annihilation'.
Leaked images of a promotional poster for the DLC, originally reported by Digital Warfare 24/7 (via Xbox360Achievements), have now been corroborated by a second image from VG247. This latest image now reveals the usual 1200 Microsoft Point price tag (£10.20) for CoD DLC as well as a June 28th release date.
That date is further corroborated by tips that Joystiq has received from Gamestop employees in the US, making 'Annihilation' a dead cert for release at the end of the month. As with its predecessors, the DLC will be a timed exclusive for Xbox 360 that'll likely be spooned over to the PS3 and PC at the end of next month.
Four new multiplayer maps will feature in the DLC - Hangar 18, Hazard, Drive-In, and Silo - as well as more dedicated Zombies content to boot. Just a thought: gamers who purchase all three of Black Ops' map packs will have spent over £30 on the DLC in total.
Update: Activision has now officially confirmed all of the above. The only extra information from the PR is a title for the Zombie map - 'Shangri-La' - and news of a double XP weekend starting on July 1st to celebrate the DLC's release.
“Players will also enjoy an all-new Zombies experience, Shangri-La, an exotic and mysterious map filled with deadly traps, dark secrets and innovative gameplay that will challenge even the most daring Zombie hunters,” Treyarch's Studio Head, Mark Lamia explained of the new 'Shangri-La' Zombie map.
