Cliff Bleszinski gets beaten to the punch again as EA and Epic announce People Can Fly's Bulletstorm...

EA and Epic has officially announced Bulletstorm, the first-person shooter from Epic's Polish studio, People Can Fly, which is currently slated for release in 2011 across the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC platforms.

Bulletstorm's story follows two soldiers, Grayson Hunt and Ishi Sato, who form part of an elite troop of sci-fi mercenaries called Dead Echo. When Hunt and Sato discover that the motivations of Dead Echo aren't quite as honourable as first thought, their commander soon gets wind of their doubts and exiles them to the far reaches of the galaxy

Mutants and flesh eating gangs are what await Hunt and Sato in this "abandoned paradise", prompting them to fight their way off the planet and exact revenge on Dead Echo's commander. Using "Kill with Skill" gameplay that takes advantage of a "Skillshot System", Bulletstorm will reward players for killing enemies as elaborately as possible.

Epic and People Can Fly is also promising an arsenal of lavishly exaggerated  guns and excessive combat moves to push the "Skillshot System" to its limits and unlock new weaponry character upgrades in the process.

Cliff Bleszinski is expected to announce more on the game during Late Night with Jimmy Fallon over on US TV tonight. He's already Tweeted over the weekend that there will be two big announcements on the show, one of which is guaranteed to be the Gears of War 3 reveal that was botched by Microsoft last week.

"Bulletstorm is the kind of game we love to make because it's pure, unadulterated entertainment," said Epic Games President, Dr. Michael Capps. "People Can Fly has created a wildly fun first-person shooter that looks gorgeous running on the latest Unreal Engine 3 technology, and the skillshot system is a welcome addition to the genre. We can't wait to see how everyone reacts to seeing Bulletstorm."
