There has been a number of Blitzkrieg titles released to cause a little confusion, compounded by the fact that there have been stand alone expansion packs, as is the case with this.

The focus for this offering is the Generalship of George S. Patton and will see the thrust of the military action in Eastern Europe and the deserts of North Africa. Now any fervent strategy fan will get excited about some of battlefields on offer and the immense amount of tactical â??nouseâ?? required to â??winning the dayâ??. There is also a superb amount of detailed historical fact and imagery conveyed and loads of scope for players to really get immersed within - many will say, â?? you canâ??t complainâ??.

To every plus there is a minus, not ones that spoil the essence of focus of this rock solid title, which is a superb price of £19:99, but there is a just a niggling doubt that conveys throughout. Yes, this is an expansion but some of the graphics, set ups and general overview of Rolling Thunder come across as dated and less inspired than previous offerings. The original Blitzkrieg was excellent, Burning Horizon continued the brand building, but Rolling Thunder is somewhat drab.

Many gamers in the â??knowâ?? are very much looking towards Blitzkrieg 2, due next year, as hopefully being a real improvement in the games design. What must be said is that Rolling Thunder is aimed at a more than fair price point and with an 18 mission campaign could well be enough for fans of the genre/series.
