On the PC this game disappoints. Controls are difficult if, like a lot of players, your joystick is not properly recognized. But you can play purely from keyboard and mouse. My personal pet hate is the relatively small gameplay arena. If you see an enemy in the distance chances are he'll be outside the gaming area. When you hit the boundary, even during a skirmish, control is taken away and your plane is flown back inside the arena before control is handed back. Of course this gets very frustrating if you are lining up for a kill shot or evading a bogey on you tail. This seems to happen far too often and, in some missions, as you complete a torpedo or bomb run you run straight into the boundary and, instead of a graceful sweeping turn to line up your next target you are flown automatically around and lose your momentum. Qestionable physics are forgivable as this is more of an arcade title. The look of the gameplay is this games saving grace. As good to watch as to play in my opinon. The game AI is a little predictable but dogfights are usually pretty intense as you struggle with the controls. And one or two missions will have you searching for cheat codes if you lose patience with them. The "Following Camera" view is great to watch but has a habit of suddenly swapping targets and turning you away from your lined up victim. It will also desinate a distant plane when there are two sitting right behind you shooting you down. The voices and comments coming over the radio very quickly become the most annoying thing about this game "By and by". But you can mute them and the repetitive soundtrack so you just have the sound of the aircraft. An out of ten score this game should be, I think, more like 4 or maybe 5 if you enjoy looks more than gameplay. A game thats simple to learn and, at times, great fun, that will stretch your patience more than your flying skills.
