Despite an initial surge, BioShock 2’s sales drop off faster than expected for Take-Two Interactive...
Take-Two Interactive has revealed during the post-earnings conference call of its Q2 2010 financial report that sales of BioShock 2 have dropped off more sharply than the publisher had anticipated, despite initial figures of 3 million unit sales last March.
Nonetheless, Take-Two was quick to clarify that the title has still been profitable for the company, although it did clarify that its Q2 growth margins have been lower than expected as a result of BioShock 2’s sales.
“Our catalogue business represneted approximately 32% of revenue in the quarter. This is partially offset by lower-than-expected sales of BioShock 2,” revealed Take-Two’s CFO, Lainie Goldstein. “The title was well received by the media and was profitable for us, however sales slowed down sooner then we had expected.”
“Our Q2 growth margins were slightly lower than anticipated primarily due to the retail performance of BioShock 2 and the additional promotional support required for the title,” she continued. “Our Q2 results reflect the estimated retail support we believe will be required for the sell-through of BioShock 2.”
Nonetheless, the company’s Director and CEO, Ben Feder was quick to reiterate the importance of the BioShock intellectual property and Take-Two’s resolve to support the product. When asked a question about 2K Marin’s work on XCOM and whether this will affect the BioShock franchise, Feder responded:
“2K Marin is working on XCOM. As it relates to BioShock, we think BioShock is still one of the most important franchises in the industry; we do intend to support it,” he pledged. “It doesn't necessarily have to be at 2K Marin but we do intend to support the franchise. First and foremost we're focussed on downloadable content. We intend to continue to support BioShock 2 with further downloadable content. We think the franchise has a long life indeed and 2K Marin focused on XCOM is just bringing another story franchise to the marketplace which is what it's all about.”
There you have it. BioShock 2 will receive more DLC beyond the two major instalments that have already been released.

Presumably you're talking about the Minerva's Den DLC?
What platform do you have BioShock 2 on? Because the DLC on PC wasn't supposed to launch yesterday. 2K has it down for release "at a later date", although XBox Live and PSN were supposed to get it yesterday.

you wake up in rapture as a prototype big daddy six or seven years after bioshock 1. There will be multiplayer but no co-op play, also there will be people who are not splicers to talk to and do missions for kinda like 'tenambaum' you can wield two weapons now one big daddy weapon like the rivet gun or 'drillfist' <<< (thats what i call it) and a plasmid. there will be a new system for plasmids and there levels. for example level one will be a weak ball of fire or lightning etc level two is a charged plasmid so it can get stronger the longer you charge it, unfortunately this leaves you vulnerable to attack. level three is like a flame thrower of the different plasmids but i think that only aapplies to the fire ice and lightning plasmids
Yo can now also go underwater as you are the big daddy but there is one thing in your way. the big sister. and there will be a new option for the big sister which is to use her so she can harvest ADAM for you. thats most of what i no but i hope it will be helpfull to you guys.
