2K Games announces a February 9th worldwide release for BioShock 2 but fails to define platform strategy...

We've received word from 2K Games that BioShock 2 is now set for worldwide release on February 9th of next year. This follows the game's delay earlier this year from its original October 30th 2009 launch date.

The wording on the press release is a touch ambiguous though and doesn't specify platforms for the February 9th date, although it does confirm that the game is "in development" for Xbox 360, PS3, and PC. This will no doubt fuel earlier rumours that BioShock 2 could be planned as a timed exclusive.

These rumours originally emanated from a Take-Two Interactive financial report earlier this year, which listed BioShock 2 as "TBA" for platforms in its then scheduled fiscal Q4 2009 launch window. This was despite the fact that it had already been confirmed for the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC.

It's worth remembering that there was a timed exclusive for the Xbox 360 and PC versions of the original BioShock, where the PS3 game then followed on a year later. On the other hand, 2K Games could merely be planning to release the PC version slightly later than the console SKUs. We've contacted 2K for clarification and will update this article should we receive a reply.

Nonetheless, in BioShock 2 gamers will return to the fallen city of Rapture where they will play through "two unique, yet intertwined experiences that form the perfect blend of explosive first-person shooter combat, compelling storytelling and intense multiplayer action."

In the single-player, gamers will take control of the series' iconic Big Daddy in pursuit of a monster that's kidnapping young girls off the Atlantic coastline and bringing them to Rapture.

The multiplayer then acts as a prequel to the original BioShock, which expands on Rapture's back-story during the city's fall. Playing as Plasmid test subjects of Sinclair Solutions, gamers will be able to utilise a menagerie of Plasmid powers to aid their survival.

you wake up in rapture as a prototype big daddy six or seven years after bioshock 1. There will be multiplayer but no co-op play, also there will be people who are not splicers to talk to and do missions for kinda like 'tenambaum' you can wield two weapons now one big daddy weapon like the rivet gun or  'drillfist' <<< (thats what i call it) and a plasmid. there will be a new system for plasmids and there levels. for example level one will be a weak ball of fire or lightning etc level two is a charged plasmid so it can get stronger the longer you charge it, unfortunately this leaves you vulnerable to attack. level three is like a flame thrower of the different plasmids but i think that only aapplies to the fire ice and lightning plasmids

Yo can now also go underwater as you are the big daddy but there is one thing in your way. the big sister. and there will be a new option for the big sister which is to use her so she can harvest ADAM for you. thats most of what i no but i hope it will be helpfull to you guys.
