SEGA announces a December 3rd release date for Bayonetta's demo via Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network...

The demo for Hideki Kamiya and Platinum Games' Bayonetta will arrive on Xbox Live and PSN next Thursday December 3rd, when the highly anticipated and critically acclaimed title will make its first appearance in the West before its scheduled release early next year.

Bayonetta has already received a perfect score from revered Japanese magazine Famitsu, which gave the game 40/40 when it was released across the territory late last month. UK mag Edge has also warmed to the game by handing it a perfect 10/10, which is no mean feat given the notoriously high judging standards in both publications.

"Developer PlatinumGames has delivered a true masterpiece," said Gary Knight, European Marketing Director of SEGA Europe. "The recent perfect review scores in such highly respected magazines as Weekly Famitsu and EDGE show the sheer quality of this title. We firmly believe that Bayonetta will go on to become one of the all-time benchmarks in action gaming."

The full version of Bayonetta is due out in the UK on January 8th for Xbox 360 and PS3.

Bayonetta marks a great start to the decade for games and it's also a start to the decade that's littered with other hack 'n slash games (i.e. the better-than-expected Darksiders, Dante's Inferno, and God of War III).

It's certainly a welcome return of the genre when there was only one game of this type (Batman: Arkham Asylum) worth shouting about last year.

But which one will be the best when the dust settles later this year? My money is on God of War III with Bayonetta coming in a very close second place.
