Eidos Changes Battlestations: Midway Plans News
Current generations scrapped as Eidos movies its epic WW2 shooter to Xbox 360 and PC...
By Chris LeytonPosted: 21/04/2006
Originally slated for release on the PC along with the Xbox and Playstation2, it seems as though Eidos has had a change of heart with its forthcoming WWII tactical/shooter, confirming that Battlestations: Midway will now be released exclusively for the Xbox 360 and PC.
Following the story of naval recruit Henry Walker who finds his first assignment as a gunner at Pearl Harbour in 1942, Battlestations: Midway provides intense air, sea and underwater battles in what's described as a unique blend of action and strategy.
Taking control of dozens of warships, aircraft and submarines, Battlestations: Midway challenges players to command the colossal firepower of a fully armed battleship, engage the enemy in the skies in fierce dogfights and utilise the stealth of a submarine attack on unsuspecting opponents.
"Battlestations: Midway offers players a refreshingly new and exciting gaming experience, whilst maintaining an incredible level of detail which recreates the intensity and atmosphere of the Pacific War. The ability to jump from a raging dogfight to the deck of a destroyer, with the crew frantically running about around you on deck, to the silence of a prowling submarine provides a unique and at times breathtaking experience. And, of course, watching your mate's aircraft carrier sink past your sub after a sneaky online torpedo attack is extremely satisfying!" said Brand Manager, Matt Russell.
"On Xbox Live(tm), gamers will be able to take part in gripping cooperative games and the high-definition mode really brings to life the glorious scale of Midway battles," said Klaude Thomas, Producer. "The power of Xbox 360 allows us a greater level of detail - self-shadowed, bump-mapped and textured in high resolution, which you simply couldn't do before now"
Battlestations: Midway is scheduled for an Autumn 2006 release, so keep an eye out fir further details and information to surface soon.

Battlestations: Midway is a really great game. I don't really like how "Slowpaced" the game is, but after a while, it gets good. The command feature should've been updated more, as well as adding more vehicles. I'd really love to get a mission where you drop the A-bomb on Japan or something like that. I think they should add the B-29, B-25, the Kiko, and some bi-planes for Re-con and such....In particular, GREAT GAME! KEEP UP THE WORK!

I found the game fun and somewhat addictive but I wish that the command features could have been improved. Also there needs to be a save point or two during the different sections of the campaigns so you don't have to play the early parts over and over again. I would like to see some new games along the same line.

This is the ideal game for long winter evenings with permutations that challenge even the most gifted. When you think you've done it all, think again!

It is certainly a bit sedate at times, but it can all too easily get quite manic when you jump from one ship to the next...

I'm far from 12 years old. But talk all the trash you want because that's what makes you idiots feel special. There may be a lot to do in the game but it is slow paced. If you don't beleive me, play the game.

It's one of the most intense games I've played this year :) But seriously, it doesn't get more frantic then trying to organise a fleet, diverting a chugging aircraft carrier between a wave or torpedoes, screaming in a vertical dive bomb and realising that a submarine has surfaced right next to your command ship... It's goooood... and attack in the Batle of Coral Sea...
